My name is Tara Smith and I’m a transfer student from North Central Community College which is located in Petoskey and I graduated with my Associate of Arts degree. I’m originally from the Upper Peninsula and I grew up in a small town called Cedarville that is right on Lake Huron. I came to Central to get my Bachelors of Science degree in Journalism. I want to be a reporter because I am interested in interviewing people and telling stories that need to be shared.
A quote that I ironically found in my class book for my Journalism 102 class really sticks out to me in why I want to do what I am working for.
“Aspire to tell stories that uncover injustice, right wrongs and help people live their lives better. They look out for ordinary folks whose voices are seldom heard, and they keep a watchful eye on those in power and expose their abuses.” – Living Journalism, Rich Martin.
